The Land Service Rigs are used by the Oil companies to complete the new wells
drilled by the land drilling rigs and also to perform
maintenance on the existing wells. Generally all the
existing wells will experience decline in the production rates
due to many reasons, such as sand accumulation, water
migration, severe corrosion of the tubing and leaks in
well-completion equipment and so on.
Well maintenances are ongoing as long as the oil
companies keep the wells in production. These wells are
revisited regularly using the service rigs to perform
various task such as well clean out, running new
completion, side tracking and fishing. A Service rig
also operates 24 hours a day and will require about 25
crew members to operate.
COE currently has one 600 Hp Service
Rig which is of the new generation rig with fast moving
and rig up concept. The unit was built
in Canada and would be ready to commence work during 3rd
quarter 2008.
